According to the data from the National Energy Administration in the first half of this year, the newly installed capacity of new energy storage in China in the first six months of this year is equal to the total installed capacity in the past 10 years. As of the end of 2022, the installed capacity of new energy storage projects that have been put into operation nationwide has reached 8.7GW/18.1GWh. As of the end of June 2023, new energy storage projects that have been completed and put into operation nationwide have a cumulative installed capacity of over 17.33 GW/35.8 GWh, with an average energy storage time of about 2.1 hours. The newly put into operation scale from January to June is about 8.63 GW/17.7 GWh, which is close to the total installed capacity of new energy storage in previous years. Completed the installed capacity of the past 10 years in half a year. Even in photovoltaics, power batteries, and new energy vehicles, there has never been such a "surge" phenomenon. In June, the number of new energy storage projects put into operation worldwide surged, leading to a centralized outbreak. According to incomplete statistics from CNESA's DataLink global energy storage database, the number of new energy storage projects (including planned, constructed, and operational projects) worldwide reached 850 in the first half of this year, more than twice that of the same period last year. In June alone, the monthly operational scale reached 3.95 GW/8.31 GWh, accounting for 50% of the total new operational scale in the first half of the year. According to Chen Haisheng, Chairman of the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance and Chairman of the Energy Storage Special Committee of the China Energy Research Association, it is predicted that the trend of large-scale growth of new energy storage will continue in the second half of the year. The annual new installed power is expected to reach 15-20 GW, and the installed capacity is expected to reach 30-40 GWh.
