According to the Vietnam Youth Daily, a report from the Vietnam Statistics Bureau shows that in the first five months of 2024, Vietnam's exports of four major categories of goods exceeded 10 billion US dollars.

Among them, the export value of computers, electronic products and components reached 27.01 billion US dollars (currently about 196.89 billion yuan), a year-on-year increase of 31.6%; The export of various types of mobile phones and components reached 22.4 billion US dollars (currently about 163.286 billion yuan), a year-on-year increase of over 11%. Vietnam has surpassed India to become the world's second largest exporter of mobile phones and fifth largest exporter of computers, second only to China.

According to reports, in recent years, Vietnam's exports of computers and components, mobile phones and components have maintained strong growth, consistently ranking first in the category of goods with an export value of over one billion US dollars. In 2011, Vietnam's exports of electronic products, computers, and components accounted for only 4.8% of the country's total exports, doubling to 9.6% in 2015, and maintaining a proportion of over 10% thereafter, reaching 16.2% in 2023. At present, the export value of this type of commodity has rapidly increased to over 57 billion US dollars.

The Vietnam Electronics Enterprise Association stated that in the past decade, Vietnam's electronics industry has consistently ranked first in exports nationwide, accounting for over 30% of the country's total import and export volume. The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade evaluates that the development of Vietnam's electronics industry in recent years is mainly attributed to the significant investment in electronic component manufacturing by multinational companies from South Korea and Japan.

However, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade also stated that in order to continue the development of the entire electronics and components industry, especially the mobile phone industry, domestic manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam must actively enhance their competitiveness and explore development potential with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
