According to a new study by TrendForce, it is estimated that the global shipment of laptops will reach approximately 174 million units by 2024, an increase of 3.7% compared to 2023.

Jibang Consulting pointed out that the demand for machine replacement is mainly concentrated in the entry-level consumer market and education market. In terms of AI laptops, although manufacturers will gradually launch them in the second half of 2024, the high prices may delay consumer purchases. Therefore, it is expected that the substantial contribution of AI models to the supply chain will only be seen in 2025. At that time, driven by the demand for business replacement, global laptop shipments are expected to increase by 5% annually.

From a supply chain perspective, Jibang Consulting stated that the global supply chain landscape has undergone significant changes in recent years, with laptop brands gradually shifting their production chain layout to Vietnam and Thailand.

Jibang Consulting stated that with the active deployment of Dell and Apple, the proportion of notebook computer outsourcing in Vietnam is expected to increase to 6% by 2024. Although Thailand is a rising star, with the close cooperation between HP and Guangda in the local area, and the addition of Yingyeda to the production line in the second half of the year, it is expected that Thailand's global laptop production share will quickly climb to 2.3%.

Jibang Consulting predicts that the proportion of global laptop supply chain transfer will increase to 12.4% by 2024. The global production of laptops is moving towards greater diversification and flexibility.
