According to recent statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in August 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 843000 and 846000 units respectively, with a month on month increase of 4.7% and 8.5%, and a year-on-year increase of 22% and 27%, respectively. From January to August 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 5.434 million and 5.374 million respectively, an increase of 36.9% and 39.2% year-on-year.

In August 2023, among the main varieties of new energy vehicles, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles increased compared to the previous month, while the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles slightly decreased and increased, and the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles significantly declined; Compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles have shown varying degrees of growth, while the production of fuel cell vehicles has slightly increased and sales have significantly decreased. From January to August 2023, compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of the three major categories of new energy vehicles showed rapid growth.
In terms of domestic sales, in August 2023, the domestic sales of new energy vehicles reached 756000 units, a month on month increase of 11.4% and a year-on-year increase of 29.7%. From January to August 2023, the domestic sales of new energy vehicles reached 4.647 million units, a year-on-year increase of 32%.
In terms of exports, in August 2023, the export of new energy vehicles reached 90000 units, a decrease of 11.2% compared to the previous month and an increase of 8.1% year-on-year. From January to August 2023, the export of new energy vehicles reached 727000 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times.
